JHEP 2 Project - New Challenges for the Future

2016 opened with a new challenging 4-year project for the JPICH (Joint Programming Initiative - Cultural Heritage) Partnership. 'Joint Programming' is a concept introduced by the European Commission in 2008 which is aimed at implementing the European Research Area (ERA). The concept intends to tackle a few current challenges that cannot be solved solely on the national level and allows Member States and Associated Countries to deal with critical issues through a joint transnational approach.

JHEP2 (Joint Heritage European Programme) is a CSA (Coordination & Support Action) within the Horizon 2020 - Societal challenges 5 framework, and aims at supporting the implementation of the Strategic Research Agenda following the recommendations emerging from the High level Group for joint programming (GPC) and in the report on 'Alignment in the context of Joint Programming'.

JHEP2 focuses on principal actions, including the development of aligned national research and innovation programmes, promoting new joint activities and providing qualitative and quantitative Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for participating countires. The project involves 16 participating JPI CH countries, it started on the 1st January 2016 and will continue until 2019. It includes 4 Work Packages, one for each of the previously mentioned actions as well as cross-cutting monitoring and coordination tasks.
